Formed in 1971 the Taranaki Orchid Society became an incorporated society in 1979. The society is affiliated with the New Zealand Orchid Council Inc. (OCNZ).
Over the years since its formation the society, whose aim is to encourage interest in Orchid culture in Taranaki, has grown into the society it is today. It is one of the more active clubs in the country, having members on the OCNZ continuously and having hosted the National Expo on several occasions.
The orchid family is the largest group of plants on Earth and our society has many experts who each have their favourite types of orchid and are only too happy to share their knowledge.
